👋 Hi there! Can you share a Checkout Session ID where you're using tax rates?

radiant atlas
#

Here it is, see there is no problem in applying the tax at all, there is just in financial report how you guys are calculating the tax.
Here is checkout session id: cs_test_b1vy7tgSVt6bfAHaXpXL0DxEF3FidZA9OYbJz4huCidIuxvnStriTyg835

My query is related to report calculation, there is no issue with applying tax rate and all.

chrome sluice
#

Thanks. Can you share which report exactly you're referring to, and what you're seeing there?

radiant atlas
#

I do not have reports, my customers are reporting that tax calculations are not visible in tax financial report, is there anything to with automatic tax calculation and applying tax via tax_rate.
Can you just give me information on how tax is calculated in reports

chrome sluice
#

I can't say without knowing which report you're talking about. Where are your customers getting this "tax financial report"?

radiant atlas
#

Just financial report which we export, for transactions

chrome sluice
#

So your application generates this report?

radiant atlas
#

no, stripe

chrome sluice
#

OK, and how exactly are you generating the report? Can you point to the documentation for this report? Or something in the Dashboard?

#

Can you show an example of this report, where you see something unexpected?

radiant atlas
#

See i am exporting report from stripe, there is nothing to do with checkout session and all, I don't have query in that, i will try to get you docs link

radiant atlas
#

Go to Dashboard -> Transactions -> Export (top right corner) when the file in downloaded in that there is column for Tax On fees, which is 0 for all transaction despite having tax applied on items.

chrome sluice
#

From the name, I assume that's the tax on payment fees. Not the tax on the item?

When you create transactions using the Tax Rate API (as opposed to Stripe Tax), the tax amounts don't automatically appear in Stripe Tax reports.

Stripe Tax reports (itemized exports, summarized exports, and location reports) only include transactions where Stripe Tax was enabled. Specifically, these reports include:

Transactions created using the Stripe Tax API
Operations on Stripe objects with automatic_tax[enabled]=true
If you're using the manual Tax Rate API to define and apply tax rates to invoices, subscriptions, or one-time payments, these transactions won't be included in Stripe Tax reports. The Tax Rate API and Stripe Tax are separate systems with different reporting capabilities.

To review transactions with manually applied tax rates, you would need to:

Export your transaction data from the Payments section of the Dashboard
Use Sigma or Data Pipeline for custom reporting if you need more detailed analysis
If you need comprehensive tax reporting that includes automatic calculations and compliance features, consider using Stripe Tax instead of manual tax rates.

I asked docs AI, I got above response, the question was : why there is no tax included in transaction report which is created by tax rate api

chrome sluice
#

Right, I believe there is no tax column if you export the Transactions list. Just the gross payment amount is shown

#

If you want a more detailed breakdown of taxes for each transaction — which can be complicated, for example your invoice where one item had tax, and the other didn't — you would need to fetch these details from each Payment Intent

radiant atlas
#

Exactly now we are getting on same page,
Using Stripe Tax would give me some tax value(if there is any) in any report I download but tax added on line item which was created using stripe tax rate api is not appearing on reports, there is just 0.

chrome sluice
#

Whether you're using Stripe Tax or not, exporting the Transactions list from the Dashboard will not include any tax information

I don't understand the question

radiant atlas
#

When i am exporting the transaction from the tax/registrations page, even though there are payments with tax applied to it via tax rate (not automatic tax), the tax amount shown in report is coming to 0

waxen abyss
#

Yes, because that column is only populated via automatic tax (Stripe Tax) transactions, not via a manual tax rate

radiant atlas
#

So, what I have to do in order to reflect this tax rate amount to be reflected in that report too

waxen abyss
#

AFAIK, manual tax rate amount are not reflected in any reports. But we're not super familiar with reporting here so you should ask support for help

We wish we could help, but you need to talk to Stripe support
