Hello @supple edge
Today I have received one email from the stripe side. can you please help me to understand that email?
We've noticed a mismatch in your Stripe Connect integration that affects how your account operates. Your account is set up to have Stripe manage negative balance liabilities, but you're currently using an incompatible charge type: separate charges and transfers…”
From what I understand, Stripe is warning that my current Connect setup (using separate charges and transfers) conflicts with the account configuration where Stripe is supposed to handle negative balances.
Hey! Could you send me your account ID? (acct_xxx)
sure acct_1QBBwSFhYfQgOdcB
Could you give me the date that the email was received?
sure Wednesday, October 29, 2025
It looks like your Connected accounts asre set up as a Standard account. For Standard accounts, it is strongly recommended that you use Direct charges. However, Separate charge and transfers are being used instead, as seen in this request here
Standard connected accounts are able to log in and view their own dashboard, respond to chargebacks and initiate refunds. And the supported charge type for Standard Accounts are direct charges, as seen here
However, when you use separate charges and transfers as the charge type, it means that your Standard connected accounts cannot manage refunds and chargeback/disputes directly since charges land on your account, you (the platform account) are responsible for any negative balances and payment processing fees are sent to you (the platform account)
What i would recommend is that you use Direct Charges instead of SCT. Here is a link on how to create a Payment Intent for that
i am using that method because in my project i have one flow where i need to split the transaction money between more than 2 parties. so if i used direct charges, then i am not able to split the money between 3 or 4 parties, right?
Yup, SCT is best used for splitting a payment to different accounts.
Hmmm, in that case then instead of Standard Accounts, you can consider creating Express/Custom Accounts instead, and then using SCT would make more sense there
Is there any reason for the use of Standard Accounts for your project?
i am not aware of how connected accounts are set up, so i am not able to provide the answer. but i just need some guidelines how can i fix this issue of mismatch in the Stripe method ?
may i ask what are the difference between the Express/Custom Accounts or standard accounts ?
Hmm, actually could i get you to write in to Stripe Support  https://support.stripe.com/contact on this? I think they'll be able to advise you on your questions!
