Below are links to other discussions we've had with you in the past week in case you want to review that information. Hey there, this is a duplicate request because my previous one was closed before I could respond to follow-up questions.

@ionic owl I recommend you report this to our support team: https://support.stripe.com/contact
This is quite subtle and country versus territories is not something we can really help with here.

#

google does seem to agree with your position at least so I'll flag, but this is something you should report to support

ionic owl
#

I don't have a Stripe account, so cannot log in there

versed lily
#

Ack so you are an end customer trying to pay? You framed it as a developer asking a question.

#

If you see this on a real website, I would ask them for help directly, they can talk to Stripe as needed

ionic owl
#

Yes, an end user trying to pay.
I've tested this across maybe 10 different apps.

#

Have gone through those apps support channels

#

But none have been able to get a resolution

versed lily
#

We usually don't ask for state by default for example so what you described is not super clear yet, though yes I do see that Marshal Islands is not a country we offer

ionic owl
#

Yeah, Marshall Islands is incorrectly listed as a state of the US

#

So every time we have tried to use the card on a Merchant using Stripe the payment fails

#

We have no issues using the card with non-stripe payment providers

versed lily
#

"10 different apps" is also a bit vague. Maybe they don't all use Stripe?
Sorry I want to help but we talk to developers about their code here.

Can you try and at least explain what UI we are even talking about? Because again we don't really have a concept of a state in most of our default UIs.

Is it that you pick US and then we ask a postal code you don't have or something else?

ionic owl
#

Sure! Let me run through the checkout flow on one again quickly so I can be precise in the feedback.

Ok, so I just tried to upgrade to a pro plan on on claude.ai.
After filling in details and hitting the "subscribe" button, I get an error "your card was declined".
Not that the billing "state" is "Mashall Islands" and the zip code is "96960"

Hi ๐Ÿ‘‹

I'm stepping in as my colleague needs to go soon.

ionic owl
#

Regarding the "state", this dropdown populates once I select the US as the country/region.

#

I had a similar experience to this eariler today with frontapp.com.
We've previously had no issues with them, but it seems they recently switched to stripe and now our card no longer works with their checkout system.

karmic prairie
#

Can you please show the full user interface you are filling out? It does not need to contain any card details but I do need to know what Stripe product you are using.

ionic owl

#

Okay, thank you. I can flag this internally and we can investigate why we might be handling these requests improperly.

#

Have you raised this with Anthropic's support channel?

ionic owl
#

Yes

#

They were not able to help

karmic prairie
#

Right but, as my colleague explained, we help developers who integrate with Stripe. So, for this case, it would be engineers at Anthropic who would bring this issue to us because they have the details like exact payment records where this failure is occurring. Since you are and end user, you do not have access to those details and it is much harder for us to chase this down.

That being said, I will still file this issue and try to get an investigation started.

Much appreciated
