Correct, if you authorization succeeds you are guaranteed to be able to capture the funds.

Of course, also sorry I should have qualified that slightly: you are guaranteed as long as you are capturing within the capture window. Funds auto-release after 7 days by default, some MCCs and account configurations can have extended authorization
