Looks like you're looking at information specific to signing up for Stripe. However, what you're describing is Stripe Connect.
That doc is for like platform accounts?
For Sole Proprietorship company.tax_id is still required [0]. However, the SSN of the representative can be used as an alternative to EIN since they are the single owner
No, it's for signing up for Stripe in general.
So is it like I should pass the SSN into the EIN field or something
https://docs.stripe.com/connect/required-verification-information#US--additional-information-on-the-representative
It says that the rep+owner must activate the account, since we are using custom account for our users and onboarding them manually how does this apply to us?
Hi, taking over as my teammate needs to step away. Let me catch up.
Are you able to share the request id where you made this update? Here's how you can find a request ID: https://support.stripe.com/questions/finding-the-id-for-an-api-request
If you look at the event, evt_1RyFjM206r7tJt5ucUBEmxkI the company structure: "private_corporation",
https://docs.stripe.com/api/accounts/create#create_account-company-structure
That is not what you described above
Can you create another account with the correct structure please?
Ok, it's a US platform with a CA custom account: https://docs.stripe.com/connect/required-verification-information#US+CA+none+full+company+card_payments,transfers
It does require '
Registry ID, Corporation Number (7 digit number), or Québec Enterprise Number (NEQ) (10 digit number)'
If you have any follow-up quesitons on these requirenments, you can reach out to support. Our support team will be able to better assist: https://support.stripe.com/contact
It's actually the opposite, CA Platform, US custom account
tax id looks to be required: https://docs.stripe.com/connect/required-verification-information#CA+US+none+full+company.sole_proprietorship+card_payments,transfers but please reach out to support if you have additionaly questions here.
Okay, just to confirm, the tax_id is required for all companies, and the amendment of EIN described in https://support.stripe.com/questions/signing-up-for-stripe-as-a-sole-proprietor-without-employer-id-number is for general signing up to stripe and does not include connected accounts right??

Hi taking over here as my colleague had to step away
Catching up
Ah looks like this is about account requirements
We really don't know much about what is required in here
We just help with api questions
I recommend asking our support team that
It's actually just the bot who is unsure
Yeah I mean open a ticket with a real person
