I think that is because you're passing the wrong parameter. We document this here: https://docs.stripe.com/api/checkout/sessions/create?api-version=2025-06-30.basil&lang=java#create_checkout_session-subscription_data-billing_mode
Can you try subscription_data.billing_mode instead ?
