Moving forward you can use the discounts parameter to include one or more discounts on a Subscription, Subscription Schedule, or Preview Invoice, and read from discounts in the responses instead.

so they are not applicable to customers anymore? just subscriptions?

And is there no way to use custom IDs for customers?
