HI could you please share more details about your use case and the issue you are facing please ?
Yes! I operate a Service business where customers sign up to a weekly subscription.
When they use the payment link, they fill in their details correctly and click 'pay and subscribe'. Then above the pay and subscribe button this pops up - we are unable to authenticate your payment. Please choose a different payment method and try again.
I tried it myself and got this message, I was using the apple pay feature.
The next time I inputted my card details manually. The banking pop up appeared and I had to authenticate my card.
Is it maybe an Apple Pay issue?
are you testing this i live mode?
Yes, I just used my own person bank card.
However when I first tried it with apple pay the authentication message appeared.
I generally never have an issue with stripe. I often process up to 30 payments weekly, the issue seems to be initially setting up the subscription
do you have any ID to share with me?
The same issue has happened with 4 new customers over the past week. I dont know if their problem was with Apple Pay, but the stripe message stated 'authentication required'
Yes I can send it to you
One second

these appear to be fail because the issuer declined the transaction
the customers should reach out to their issuing banks to see why exactly the payment failed
I am sorry but I feel that is not good enough
From Stripe's perspective
That will churn customers straight away
If it happening to 4 different customers in the past 7 days there must be a stripe issue
Sorry, but I will have no choice but to leave Stripe and move to a competitor due to this issue. If it is going to prevent customers from completing a simple payment I have no choice
I was looking at some historical data, in the past 30 days this only happened 10 times
Yes, it has prevented 4 customers signing up in the last few days
2 on July 7th
3 on July 15th
1 yesterday
and 4 today
I understand but I don't have any other input. We here on this channel help people with their integrations
when you're seeing an increase in decline rates you should flag it to https://support.stripe.com/?contact=true
