gopuffjust now contacted me ande said with the subject line "[ACTION REQUIRED] Update your information in Stripe to continue receiving payouts" that notified you about your Stripe account being restricted. This email contained a direct link and instructions on how to update the required information.

dm'ed. you'll need to enter a bogus address in the email field before selecting the apple pay button
when selecting methods in the apple pay UI, you should see events being logged in the console

well, i'm not sure where to go from here. but glad it works on other 18.5 versions.
did the safari restart. but sure, i'll give the machine reboot a whirl.
so... for some silly reason a complete restart seems to have fixed the issue. but what's (potentially) interesting is that i'm now observing other behavior that i thought was supposed to happen but dismissed...

when i first started the implementation, i was seeing "shippingaddresschange" followed immediately by "shippingratechange" every time the apple pay UI loaded up. but while it was broken for me, it was only ever firing the "shippingaddresschange" event.

anyway, appreciate you taking the time to look at it and confirm it was in fact working. not sure how i got my browser in the state it was, or why a full reboot was necessary to fix it.
