link settings can be a little tricky sometimes... i'm still looking into this but can you try something for me real quick?

  1. go to this page
  2. click on Link
  3. on the right side bar next to Availability, click on "Customize"
  4. turn link off for at least "Stripe Checkout"
  5. generate a new checkout session and share the link

So, to replicate this in production, I have to disable the LINK feature in the default setting and also on the billing payments settings?

i think you should just need to disable it for billing payment settings since the checkout session is in mode: "subscription"

my test account is configured a little differently so it would take me a bit of time to test and confirm, but if you want to try re-enabling link for your default PMC to confirm real quick that would help us know for certain

Does this mean that for checkouts of type payment mode: "payment" the default option should be disabled?

if it's been disabled in the same way (by going into that "customize" sub-menu) then yes
