Stripe asked me to change my implementation from using a "destination" param to using a "payout_method" param
Where did you get this information from? Could you share the URL of the doc where you saw this information?

this was shared privately with me by Stacey Wong and a Stripe developer (m saviano?) because I participated in their beta. but I believe the Payouts product is not in beta anymroe

Thanks for sharing! The information and doc you shared is a private feature, specifically with payout_method parameter. This discord only supports public feature. For any private feature, I'd recommend following up with the Stripe contact you're working with

shoot. they haven't gotten back to me after 4 days and I have hundreds of people sending me help requests about it
so it is still in beta ? you've never heard of Global Payouts ?

We don't support private preview in this channel. As listed in the top of the guide, Global Payout is a private preview feature. Your account is added to the beta, so you can view the doc. Others who aren't enrolled into the beta won't be able to view this doc publicly.
Back to https://dashboard.stripe.com/test/logs/req_LTz3dK8sm5AEWq, the issue is likely that the Sandbox account doesn't have the access to this Global Payout private privew feature. I'd recommend following up with the Stripe contact on getting this access on your Sandbox account.

ah I didn't see that private preview thing. thank you!!! if I am getting the error in prod too, would you assume it is the same issue? that my prod account got removed from the preview feature accidentally at some point ?

That's likely the case. I don't have necessary expertise on how and what to enable to the access to this private preview feature. If you have a Stripe contact, I'd recommend following with him / her. If you don't, our Support https://support.stripe.com/contact will be able to help.
