You should use the Payment Element. This element is used to collect payment method details and can be used to just save the payment methond.

How do I create it when I don't have a client secret?

you should be using a Setup Intent even when you are using a customer session
so you should have the client secret from the Setup Intent

Oh, that's probably it. I need to expand the session with setup intent and get the client_secret from there
