hello! it's pretty common for connected accounts to just be individuals - see the business_type: individual section of the Create an Account API reference
similarly our issuing guide has a lot of info on issuing virtual cards to individuals:
https://docs.stripe.com/issuing/cards/virtual/issue-cards?testing-method=with-code
you say unusual, but is it possible? I've looked at both the docs you shared above. Regarding the documentation on Connected Accounts: https://docs.stripe.com/connect/required-verification-information#US+US+none+full+individual+card_payments,transfers. Here for example, if you go to Viewing requirements for connected account you see that even if choose business_type: individual it's not required to put anything related to their business, so that would mean that the connect account could just be an individual right?
to be clear it's very common for a connected account to just be an individual - doordash is one prominent example where each dasher is represented by a different stripe account
so the short answer is yes, this is possible and commonly done
ok so it would be easy enough to create virtual cards for those connected accounts using the API
yep! like i mentioned earlier the guides specifically document how to issue cards to individuals:
https://docs.stripe.com/api/issuing/cardholders/object#issuing_cardholder_object-type
this doc even walks you through how to choose company vs individual:
https://docs.stripe.com/issuing/other/choose-cardholder
yes but this would not be possible through Stripe Issuing which is transfering funds between Connected Accounts. It would only be possible for Connected Accounts that are businesses isn't it?
that's really what my original question was
issuing is typically for creating virtual credit cards that allow the cardholders to spend funds from a balance - it doesn't really have anything to do with transferring funds between connected accounts
can you describe your overall objective here? i think we might need to take a step back to understand what you want your integration to look like
like if funds have been collected on my platform from Connected Accounts then I can issue a virtual card from the balance collected?
yep! that is pretty core functionality to how issuing works and is also supported. so as of right now i don't think anything you're saying would not work.
can you walk me through a real life example of what you want? describe your hypothetical end user and what they are doing, how you want the money to become available to them to spend, etc?
