No, I mean that when checkout.stripe.com.redirects back to my site, the session cookie and albaws cookie seem to have gone away

I suspect because of the cookie settings (same site). But that's what I wanted to confirm

I am referring to not-stripe cookies like phpsessionid (where the session I'd is stored) or awsalb (aws std for handling aws alb)
