It's isn't possible to create a subscription item with a trial period. The trial is on the subscription.

My use case:
I am selling different modules. Subscription is created at user registration level. When user subscribes a module, I create subscription item for that subscription. so here I want to add trial period and it varies for each module.
Any suggestions?

It's best to create a customer object for each user. And then create a susbcription for each module they subscribe to.
