With the new basil api version can subscriptionItems have different current_period_start and current_period_end times on the same subscription?
Yes, exactly!
In those changelog docs we indicate impact:
Update any code that references subscription-level current_period_end and current_period_start fields. Instead, access the subscription item’s billing periods directly using items.data.current_period_end and items.data.current_period_start fields.
This is in support of allowing mixed-cadence prices on a single subscription
ie, a single subscription with a monthly & annual price, previously required two separate subscriptions
Yes, this is not yet supported, its coming later
The breaking change lays some groundwork to enable that feature
