Yeah, unfortunately the customization options are extremely limited with regard to styles
essentially limited to what you see in the dashboard Pricing Table editor

Where you can customize color and font and button shapes and a couple of other minor things.

how can i put in a formal request for an easy css override. this seems like a quick win from a company that is so large to help support customers better

We track feedback about this kind of thing on an ongoing basis. There is an existing feature request for more customization on the Pricing Table and I've added your feedback to that.
Unfortunately, though, I can't promise whether it will be adopted or not
