The meaning of 'Discount' has changed over the years, so what exactly are you trying to do?
I'm trying to get the discount in a different way
There doesn't seem to be any way to get it via the gem now

Okie I see the recommendation on the Github issues using expand, have you tried that?
The best approach is to use Expansion in our API which is documented here and in this video. So when you retrieve the Subscription you can pass expand: ['discounts'] and you will get the full Discount(s) objects in that discounts array instead of just the id(s).
