can you explain a little bit more about what you're doing with the invoice data once you get it in your current integration? what exactly are you doing with the subscription id?

Sorry. I spent a long time looking before I asked and I just found the solution in a GitHub comment. https://github.com/stripe/stripe-python/issues/1487. In short I need to use Invoice Payments.
