well, the customer associated with that invoice doesn't have a default payment method
so next step is to collect a payment method to be able to pay the invoice

what worked? can you share an example of an Invoice on that API version?

that invoice had an amont of $0, so there's nothing to actually pay, which means no payment method was required.

That was then used to pay when you confirmed the intent: https://dashboard.stripe.com/test/logs/req_SiI1TlDYWOlgVA
Nothing has changed with regard to this between the API version you used then and now
