Hello

Could you describe in a little more detail what you want to happen. For example: "Jane Smith signs up on Jan 1 2025, and on Sept ~1 we offer her the renewal and then . . . "

#

What happens? Stripe does/does not collect a payment for the next year on Jan 1 2026?

Jane Smith subscribes on Jan 1 2025 -> An invoice is automatically created on Jan 1 2026 to collect.

Can we create this invoice 90 days prior?

Auto renewal - Works
Manual renewal - Invoice is created the day the subscription ends and sent to customer. This could cause disruptions in their service? Could they pay earlier to extend the subscription?

Hello
Taking over here.
It's not possible to generate an invoice 90 days prior to the renewal date, no.
The invoice is generated based on the billing cycle anchor date.

One option would be to move the anchor to 90 days prior to the renewal date & introduce a trial period of 90 days

For example:

  • Jane Smith subscribed on Jan 1, 2025
  • You moved billing cycle anchor to Oct 1, 2025
  • Invoice gets generated
  • You add trial for 90 days
  • Anchor moves back to Jan 1, 2026

(would recommend testing it out in test mode^ to be 100% certain)
