Do I need to create a custom Payment Link page to persist the utms ?
I am not sure how (from the docs) to get the UTM's to persist ?
hi! are you currently using payment links? you can also create a checkout session in your backend and use the metadata parameter to store whatever you want, including codes like
https://docs.stripe.com/api/checkout/sessions/create#create_checkout_session-metadata
if you're using payment links i would need to run a quick test to see how it works as i'm a little less experienced with those
yeah, I don't think we are using the payment link.
So add the utm's to the metadata ?
how then are the utms going to be captured by posthog's analytics?
i don't know posthog so i can't speak to how that side of things works, but do you know if they accept webhooks?
most of the time you would listen for the checkout.session.completed event which would contain the checkout session object, including the metadata
https://docs.stripe.com/api/events/types#event_types-checkout.session.completed
we do not use webhooks with posthog, hmmmm...
yeah, webhooks are definitely the recommended method - see our guide on this
ok, let me talk to my people then... and see what we want to do.
thank you for your help. greatly appreciated !!!
