just to clarify my question, I am specifically referring to the "Product Catalogue"
(it seems the product catalogue isn't copied over from live/test mode when the sandbox is created)
we have a decent number of products in our catalogue and recreating them accurately manually would discourage us to use the sandbox feature

Yeah I agree there isn't a way to easily copy them. However you can write API to retrieve the List on Test/Live mode, then switch Secret Key to recreate them in Sandbox! It would require some effort though
