Hello! I believe in the scenario you describe the Refund would be pending. Have you tried this in test mode to confirm?

I have to (due to unrelated reasons) work with "live" account, and I attempted this operation for a small amount. I can see the "refund" is in "succeeded" status but I don't see the platform balance becoming negative
The specific behavior may be impacted by special configurations on your account. You would need to ask Stripe support for help if you're seeing something unexpected: https://support.stripe.com/contact
I am chatting with them in parallel, I just thought there could be a technical aspect that I don't clearly see from the docs
