Hi ๐Ÿ‘‹

You can specify a list of blocked merchant categories using Issuing spending controls. We document this here

Yup, we see that however the question is what these prohibited merchant categories would show up as. I do see some gambling MCCs (i.e. betting_casino_gambling, government_licensed_online_casions_online_gambling_us_region_only), but nothing for firearms/ammo/weapons

When you say "show up as", what API resource are you referring to?

the issuing_authorization.request webhook

That information is not included directly there currently. It looks like we have a private preview available for "enriched merchant data" that you could request access to here

#

That's a good callout. We should break out the restricted categories into a separate table in the Issuing Categories doc. I will make that recommendation

Awesome thanks! Do you know if ultimately Stripe should be declining these transactions or is it up to us as the Stripe Issuing client?

civic solar
#

That is a good question!

#

Our docs don't do a great job of describing non-happy path scenarios but let me look around

#

Hmmm... I can't see anything definitive on my end. Unfortuntely, it isn't something we are well versed in here on this server. We mostly focus on helping developers code integrations with Stripe APIs and leave the regulatory stuff to others.

#

I think you could write in to Support for more details and, in the mean time, consider it your responsibility to block as much prohibited business as you can identify.
