ah. I've asked them, and unfortunately they give information that contradicts Stripe's own documentation and the Connect onboarding forms (however they do this intermittently - in some of their replies they contradict themselves)
i was getting the feeling they didn't really know how this situation works

I think you may be getting answers from a t1 agent that doesn't know. I recommend pressing them to escalate (and pointing out the contradictory info)
There should be folks in support that can answer this

ok, thanks - i do have a closely related API question on this - this Connect Account.company.structure field seems like it might be helpful to use to further dictate company structure, but the picklist of options isn't in the API docs itself, it's elsewhere:
