AFAIK, this should be still valid... maybe this is related to live mode only I'm not sure honestly. I'll flag this internally to double check the doc
In the meantime, try using statement_descriptor_suffix instead for card payments
I am testing integration with Stripe API via a 3rd party service, and that service doesn't seem to support statement_descriptor_suffix parameter. It only supports statement_descriptor. That's why I wanted to clarify the behavior of statement_descriptor for cards.
I reached out internally to double check this, while I can't guarantee the response time, I invite. you to reachout to that third party and adapt their integration to support both params.
I just got an update internally, your Stripe Account has a feature flag enabled that allows you to use the statement_descriptor with card on PaymentIntents
