the number you provided works, but the real unionpay debit card number does not.

The Card Element tries to determine the card brand based on the BIN, and has some known issues with certain card numbers. Card Element is legacy, and we recommend switching to the Payment Element, which doesn't have the same issues.

I don't believe we have plans to fix this for Card Element, no, as it's a legacy object that's been replaced by the newer Payment Element for quite some time now.
