Hello Stripe Support,
I have a question regarding the 90-day maximum fund retention policy in Stripe Connect.
From my understanding, Stripe cannot hold funds indefinitely in a connected account. However, since payouts are made from the total available balance, and not linked directly to specific transactions, how does Stripe determine which funds have reached the 90-day limit and must be paid out?
For example, consider this scenario:
90 days ago, the account received €500.
40 days ago, another €300 was received.
5 days ago, I made a payout of €600.
The account still has €200 remaining.
How does Stripe track whether these remaining €200 are part of the funds received 90 days ago?
What happens if funds remain unpayout for more than 90 days in a manual payout system?
Does Stripe automatically force a payout, or does it return the funds to the original sender?
I want to ensure that I’m correctly handling Stripe’s payout policies for my connected accounts. Thanks in advance for your clarification!
Hello
If you use automatic payouts, we do know which payments are tied to the balance
If you use manual payouts, your platform would need to map the amounts of the balance to specific payments.
I'd recommend talking to our support team about this as my team on discord won't know much about compliance stuff and support team can help clarify with more context
