Are you collecting the PaymentMethod before creating the Subscription?
Can you be more specific what that means?
In what order do you set up the Subscription?
- Do you create the Subscription object and then use client_secret to collect payment details? Or,
- Do you collect payment details and then create a Subscription object with the saved PaymentMethod?
second way, create subsription with paymentMethod
Then error_if_incomplete will work for your case.

Hi there ๐ jumping in as my teammate needs to step away soon. I just wanted to make sure you know you can test this in testmode without using a real card and attempting a real payment. I noticed the Subscription you shared initially was created in livemode, and just wanted to make sure you weren't testing in livemode.
