Hi, let me help you with this.

Awesome. Thanks

I'm surprised when you say this ever worked as the tax ID collection checkbox has no bearing on whether we calculate/collect tax for the payment

#

That is purely based on the customer location and your tax registrations

elder ginkgo
#

Okay.. I'm not so very sure about that. First, my location is Nigeria so tax is not calculated for me.
My colleague in Sweden says it's likely a new bug, and that it used to be zero for him. And also when he shops on other sites as a. business.

This confusion aside, what we wan to achieve is this:

Can you share some session IDs where the tax behaviour differs?

elder ginkgo
#

Sure. But I'll complete my earlier point. Here's what we want to achieve:

"If EU/UK is selected and the "I purchase as a company" box is checked in the checkout, we should not collect tax (tax would be $0)."

Not supported I'm afraid

FWIW, lots of variables go into tax calculation (location, tax registration, product eligibility) so the likelihood is it's just a different matrix of those

#

I see

Alright, in summary, tax would always be calculated and won't be zero just by checking the "business" box?

Yes

Great! Thank you.

Your final thoughts on this please:

When I click "I purchase as a company" it doesn't change to $0 tax for me either. I've purchased as a company on many other Stripe checkouts which worked like this so this must be a built in Stripe feature somewhere. Maybe Stripe support is the quickest way to find.

Not sure what else to say that I've already stated โ€“ tax ID collection does not influence tax calculation
