Hi
I think this is handled automatically by Stripe and the certificate could have been created when we were using a different payment provide
Initially when integrated Tap to Pay with Stripe you didn't create a certificate ?
I can't remember if I am honest
But it is this "Apple Pay Merchant Identity" related to Tap to Pay or Apple Pay (for online and app)
According to the warning message you've receved it's about Apple Pay Merchant Identity is about to expire so yes you need to generate a new certificate.
It's via your Stripe Dashboard.
The Support article you shared initially explains this well.
I am not sure it does as the link refers to creating a "Apple Pay Payment Processing" which is different to "Apple Pay Merchant Identity" I think.
Also when we go to our dashboard we dont have any certificates enabled there but it works fine
Check your Apple Pay developer website:
https://docs.stripe.com/payments/accept-a-payment?platform=ios#register-for-an-apple-merchant-id
I think this is for Apple pay inside an app? We use an online payment window to process donations online or Tap to pay.
So I guess my question is do we need this for Tap to pay?
As you received a warning from Apple then I would say yes.
I don't have the warning details , but according to your initial message it seems related yes.
Have you had the chance to check your Apple developer profile and check if there is more details ?
No more details there apart from it needs refreshing.
But this certificate could have been created during the development phase.
So this is why I am seeing whether it is actually need to apple pay payments on stripe online
hi! I'm taking over this thread.
Hi Soma,
I have just been doing some more reading and I dont think I need a valid Apple Pay Merchant Identity Certificate for online Apple Pay payments with Stripe as Stripe handle the Apple Pay side of things
I'm not sure to be honest. you could try asking Stripe support directly. make sure to include a screenshot of the email you received from Apple.
https://support.stripe.com/contact
I have tried to speak with them but they are not sure either and so thought it needed more developer knowledge
