Here is the guide on how to update the billing cylce anchor of an existing subscription: https://docs.stripe.com/billing/subscriptions/billing-cycle#changing
yeah, this one only allows it to be set to now
I want to set it to be the same as their other subscription
Have you checked this by adding a trial to change the subscription cycle? https://docs.stripe.com/billing/subscriptions/billing-cycle#add-a-trial-to-change-the-billing-cycle
but that would risk not charging customers when they actually have billing usage events, right?
That's right if you're using metered billing.
Another alternative will be using Subscription Schedule: https://docs.stripe.com/billing/subscriptions/subscription-schedules/use-cases#resetting-anchor
But it'll be slightly different from the existing subscription
