well there are 3 buttons to choose from preset amounts, and underneath is an input box to enter a custom amount. I get creating items for the preset amounts, but how would I do it dynamically for custom amounts

Ok, so basically your customer decide the amount (e.g., $10) before the subscription, and they'll be charged $10 every month?

You can also create manual off-session payments at fixed interval. But I'd highly recommend you using subscriptions
