Hi ๐ there are very limited options for changing the billing cycle anchor on an existing Subscription. You can add a trial period as you mentioned. The only other option it to update the billing_cycle_anchor to now, which forces the Subscription to move to the next billing period and generate the next Invoice:
https://docs.stripe.com/billing/subscriptions/billing-cycle#changing
You could schedule that with a Subscription Schedule, but I don't think that's what you're describing and would recommend continuing to use the trial approach.
Ok what if using the now but can I tell stripe to not create the immediate invoice?
Like I would want it to create the invoice on the next billing cycle from now
No, that isn't possible.
ah ok. trial it is. Thank you
Any time!
One thing that slipped my mind that may give you some luck, is to pause the Subscription before changing the billing cycle anchor:
https://docs.stripe.com/billing/subscriptions/pause-payment#collect-payment-never
I don't think I've personally tested that flow and am confident in how those two features work together, but it might help.
