Hi, let me help you with this.
You need to reach out to Stripe Support, they might be able to enable this for your account: https://support.stripe.com/?contact=true
Thanks. You mean there's an API field that's currently not visible to us in the docs that we can have enabled?
Exactly. They will share instructions on how to use it as well.
Alright, thanks!
Probably a silly question… but are you able to give any advice on what we can do about a certain issuer blocking 100% of our payments?
The issuing company (used by various unrelated banks) said they won't talk to us directly, since we don't have a Mastercard Acceptance Agreement with them.
I assume we should contact Stripe Support for this too? But is there any simple way to escalate beyond the first level support, because it's often hard to get Stripe Discord-quality answers there… 😅
We can't really help with decline/auth rate issues here no. Do you have a specific example of a payment?
Yeah, understandable.
We've got plenty (unfortunately); here's an example: pi_3QLZfcCxlkTqLKpv1x8blxx8
Hmm, yeah unfortunately these just look like generic declines. The delcline code implies that 3DS/auth on the payments may help with authorisation but looking at that example you shared the issuer's server seems to have problems with handling auth requests. Is this a recent problem?
I've seen some subscription creation payments that show 3DS success, but are then immediately declined afterwards, e.g.: pi_3QM7s0CxlkTqLKpv14VlF6Ln
The earliest instance I could find of consistent declines from this issuer was in August: pi_3PlCDhCxlkTqLKpv1DOG8NSl
We reached out to ~20 customers having this same generic_decline problem, and heard back from a bunch of them.
There's at least five different banks, all of which seem to have debit Mastercards issued by this underlying PSA Payment Services Austria. But PSA said they can't talk to us, and we should talk to Stripe.
I think one customer also told us that their bank had informed them that we could be on some sort of blocklist…
Ah yeah that one did have a successful 3DS challenge
I'd recommend writing in to our team and and we can go from there: https://support.stripe.com/contact/email?topic=api_integration
