Thanks tarzan but this is not my case.
What I need to do is I have created a subscription, it is showing next billing date on 15 december , now i need to change the next billing date to 21 december. How to do it. From the above documentation, this may not work.

No we dont need extra payment but the upcoming billing periods cycle should be set accordingly to the next billing date changed. I would not prefer trial.

you can create a subscription schedule from an existing subscription
and then you update the phases accordingly
so the current phase will end on the 21st of december
