hi! is this for payouts created on your own account, or when using Connect for payouts on connected accounts?
and what exact customisation are you looking for?
This is for connected accounts
I need to customize the bank statement description to include a custom account ID
then you can set a payout desciptor on the settings for the account : https://docs.stripe.com/connect/payout-statement-descriptors#automatic-payouts
Can I do that in the Dashboard? Or only through the API?
I mainly know about the API, but might be possible through the Dashboard, you can try looking at an account in your Dashboard and poking through the settings and Edit/... menus on the page
Thank you!
One more question - I just realized the statement_descriptor is only applicable to accounts created after October 9, 2023
The settings.payout.statement_descriptor from the connected account, if your platform and the connected account were created on or after October 9th, 2023.
Is there a way around this for accounts created before Oct 9, 2023?
I can't find this to modify from the Dashboard
not sure off the top of my head but I'll look. To clarify, do you actually have accounts like that or is it just a theoretical question?
Most of my accounts were created before Oct 9, 2023
Is there a reason for that? Or by chance is it just a reference to the API version?
Meaning I just need to use an API version more recent than Oct 9, 2023?
I know that's not how it's written. But maybe that's what it means? I'm being hopeful haha
it's just because that's when we introduced the new behaviour. Apparently in the past you could set that field in the API but it didn't acutally work ๐ So it was fixed forward for new accounts, but we can't change it for exisitng platforms since you might be relying on the old broken implementation.
If you ask us through Support, it seems there's a setting we can apply to your account to opt into the fix.
Do you know how long that will take?
My only other option is to create payouts through the API, correct? Meaning, I have to stop using automatic payouts
the change would be instant once we apply the setting to your account
Right. But do you know how long it will take from the time I contact support? Is it something a support agent can do while they are on the phone with me? I'm on a deadline so if it will take a few days I'll need to do manual payouts until it is fixed
I would like to continue to use automatic payouts because then I can see all the charges in the payout
no it would have to be escalated to a higher tier than the phone support, and then approved by the eng team, so it would take a while. Also we need to apply the change to all the accounts apparently so that will add more steps to this(figuring out what accounts to apply to, checking with you that it's a good list for you ,etc) so it would take a bit
Ok thank you!
Is there something specific I should reference when I call support? Or just say that I need all of my accounts created before Oct 9, 2023 updated to a newer version?
tell you what just create a case through this link and I'll route it to a relevant team
Please click this link to open a support case with our Developer Support team, in order to help you more effectively.
Here's what to expect:
- ๐งโ๐ป You may need to log in to your Stripe account first.
- โ๏ธ You'll be asked to confirm that you want to create a support case.
- ๐ Your case will be routed to our Developer Support team and they will have a link to this Discord thread to preserve context on your question.
- ๐ฉ The team will review your question and reply to your support case as soon as possible.
Why can't you answer right now?
- โฑ๏ธ Sometimes answering technical/developer focused questions can take some time to reproduce problems or dig into edge cases or your specific account setup to get you the best possible answer, and it's not always possible to do this live in Discord.
Thank you! Done!
