hi! hmm well generally you'd use webhooks to update your backend that a payment was successful(not relying on the browser to hit a URL which is brittle).
do you find that's widely adopted/the standard? We do integrate with various stripe webhooks currently, for other events.
Another option I'd considered was a two step process where the user would vault/save their ACH payment method (setup for offline charging), and then in code we'd perform the charge, to avoid the browser communication dependency.
webhooks are entirely normal and recommended/required for building a Stripe integration yes
your two step process seems overly complicated and could also be confusing since it's harder for the customer to see the exact amount they're going to pay on the actual checkout page. Really here the answer is webhooks.
