Fyi I’m not charging anything the card is just getting declined at the save step

@runic rampart when you confirm the SetupIntent, we might talk to the bank to check if the card is valid, decide to do 3DS, etc. It's possible for the bank to decline/block that attempt. There isn't a way to avoid it no

Thanks. So setupintentsw in general can run the same checks as when you actually try to make a payment? Even though you’re just trying to save it?

Yes and it helps ensure the card being set up is correct/valid though there's no guarantee we talk to the bank. But if we do and the bank blocks it, we do too. It's better for you since it means their next payment would likely just fail
