Hi ๐Ÿ‘‹

I think the reasoning here is that, since you are using a Schedule and the payment failure will likely occur while the Customer is off-session, we want to still create a Subscription with an initial Invoice that you can use to collect a new payment method from your Customer.

Got it, I understand that reasoning. In that case, there is no way to differentiate between a subscription failing that is coming up for renewal vs a brand new subscription failing on start. We are handling trials on our end so we consider any scheduled subscription to be a trial

#

You would have to look at the subscription schedule but we release that right away

Okay I can understand that. Do you have a question for me?

Was just checking my understanding! Am I correct in saying if a subscription is marked as "unpaid", the "end_date" remains the same up until it is marked as "canceled" at which point, the "end_date" becomes the date the subscription was canceled?

Sorry I meant "current_period_end" as it relates to the billing period (which may be cut short if the subscription is canceled?)

Hmmm... I don't think so. Have you tested this or do you have an example subscription ID I could review?

I actually think I figured out our implementation we'll use for this. Thanks for your help clarifying things Stripe genius!
