@radiant glade the easiest is to do this through the PaymentIntent. But alternatively you can use CreditNotes otherwise: https://docs.stripe.com/invoicing/integration/programmatic-credit-notes

I've never heard of credit notes
What are the pros and cons of each method? Why do credit notes exist if refunding the payment intent is easier?
CreditNotes usually come with compliance rules and strict accounting rules. I don't know much about the why sorry, I focus more on the API existing.
I'd recommend reading that doc end to end to figure out if it fits your needs!
