Ok that makes sense. I guess my confusion is that they are able to modify the subscription via the customer portal. For example I have two subscription products, one called "Essentials" and the other called "Pro". Each has a monthly and yearly pricing option. Customers are able to switch between these using the customer portal and I'm just trying to make it easier to navigate. Is it possible to use a flow and "deep-link" them right to the page showing the modification they want to make?

Yeah so that's what I'm trying to do is use the subscription update flow. I still get this error:
Stripe Error: This PortalSession cannot update subscription sub_1PyFU1GQKZJikh7ND3a68ysx because it is managed by a subscription schedule.
{'statusCode': 500, 'body': '{"message": "Stripe Error: This PortalSession cannot update subscription sub_1PyFU1GQKZJikh7ND3a68ysx because it is managed by a subscription schedule."}'}

Which is confusing because I know I can update the subscription through the portal session (see picture).

Thanks for looking into this for me Rubeus!

I believe the Subscription shown in the Portal is a different one. The Customer Portal isn't going to display Subscriptions controlled by a Subscription Schedule.

#

If that is, indeed, the same Subscription, then something is likely broken.

#

Can you share the ID of that Customer Portal Session?

You are completely correct - my fault. I was trying to modify a subscription that was set to be cancelled, meaning it would need to be renewed first before making changes. Is there anywhere I can read about what it means to be "controlled by a subscription schedule"? I was under the (wrong) impression that all of my subscriptions are

Amazing thanks Rubeus, you've been super helpful

If that's null there's no Subscription Schedule controlling the Subscription.
