I'm afraid it's not possible to specify charge description from an invoice before a charge is created. The description can only be updated after the charge is created
So what's the solution to this problem then? Ideally we'd be able to send accurate information to Xero, but the Stripe API doesn't seem to expose the functionality to do that, and we're getting blamed for Stripe integration being "bad" when it's out of our control
Unfortunately, there is no workaround to this as the charge description can't be configured at the invoice or subscription creation. I'd suggest writing to Support https://support.stripe.com/contact for the feedback, so that they can share with the relevant team.
Find help and support for Stripe. Our support site provides answers on all types of situations, including account information, charges and refunds, and subscriptions information. Get your questions answered and find international support for Stripe.
Thanks for your help. How technical are the support team? I fear this might be too complicated of a sitution for them to understand this problem as a race condition issue, and I'll instead get a load of generic answers as to how we can update the charge description after it's been created instead of understanding it's a missing feature of the Stripe API
You can add the link to this thread, so that Support can review the conversation here if necessary.
Okay great, thanks for your help ๐
