So there aren't any other updates to the subscription, right?
The billing cycle anchor is not changed due to the delayed payment?

If I wanted to change the billing_cycle_anchor is those situations I would need to add trial time in order to change it to the future (after natural payment date of current period)?

yes though it doesn't really make sense to do that in my eyes and it's discouraged
The concept of "unpaid" is more for businesses that still offer the service and will try to get their funds later. Like an electricity provider that doesn't cut the power during winter

We don't expect people to use that flow and stop providing the service and wait for the Invoice to be paid to reset the service period. That's not really well supported (hence the hack with a trial)
