It does have a limit, I don't recall exactly what it is
So I'd recommend just creating a test PaymentIntent with a very long description

I tried to search in the documentation but didn't identify nothing. I found that for the statement description there is a limit of 22 characters

Most string limits default to 5k characters
But yeah best thing to do is to test it to find out the exact limit
