Here's a screenshot of what we see when we try to connect a user's Stripe account that's also connected to ThriveCart

@plush pier looks like you're in the wrong place, this thread is for someone else's question.

sorry

gilded wadi
#

No worries.

#

We think the account ID we're trying to connect is acct_1Pi2IXCtqirx63a9

hello! gimme a while to take a look

gilded wadi
#

Sure thing! Thank you.

swift girder
#

hrm, does your platform only retrieve data from the connected accounts to provide services? i.e. do you create payments on the connected accounts?

gilded wadi
#

We don't create payments, we just retrieve data.

swift girder
#

or were you already using OAuth when attempting to connect to the connected account?

gilded wadi
swift girder
#

ah, yeah, so i think the problem here (seeing from the URL) is that you're requesting for read_write scope

gilded wadi
#

ahh hah

swift girder
#

in the warning on the oauth page that i shared

Starting in June 2021, Platforms using OAuth with read_write scope won’t be able to connect to accounts that are controlled by another platform.

#

so some of the accounts that you're trying to connect to are controlled by another platform, which is why it asks them to create another account instead

gilded wadi
#

I think I did it that way because I saw this warning somewhere:

Please use the read_write scope, or contact support at https://support.stripe.com/contact/ in order to use read-only connections.

#

Do I still need to contact support for a read-only connection or should it just work? =

swift girder
#

it's difficult to say, is it possible for you to try?

gilded wadi
#

Yes I'll try now.

#

Doesn't work. When I try to visit a connect.stripe.com/oauth/v2/authorize link I get the error:

{
"error": {
"message": "Please use the read_write scope, or contact support at https://support.stripe.com/contact/ in order to use read-only connections."
}
}

swift girder
#

meh, unfortunately looks like you're going to need to write in then. sorry about that, but it's not something that we can help with here on this channel

gilded wadi
#

Got it. Thank you for your help!

swift girder
#

by the way, if you can, write in now and let me know once you're done. I'd like to find your support ticket to put a note on it so that the person handling it has context

gilded wadi
#

I'm live chatting now

swift girder
#

ah, once the chat ends let me know. They'll likely tell you that they'll follow up on it since it needs another team to handle i think

gilded wadi
#

yessir

gilded wadi
#

That live chat ended and they said they'd follow up via. email. My ticket number is 15804881

swift girder
