Can you describe your situation a bit more? Is there a reason you cannot just pass a token like
pm_card_visa_chargeDeclined as the payment_method parameter when making a Payment Intent?

Okay, we have a specific test card number for that

Attaching this card to a Customer object succeeds, but attempts to charge the customer fail.

So you could use this test card number with a Setup Intent like we document here: https://docs.stripe.com/payments/save-and-reuse?platform=web&ui=elements
and it would successfully attach to the Customer. But when you attempt payment the payment will be declined

And yeah, I ran into this problem often when creating my own test integrations so I kept having to look up this card number 😅
