As for the python verison, 4.2.0 is a couple years behind the latest and will not include support for many of the newer API features we offer. You can review the changlog here and see what's been added since then and whether than includes features you need: https://github.com/stripe/stripe-python/blob/master/CHANGELOG.md

Note that even if something was already included in the version dj-stripe uses, they may not expose it through their own surfaces.
