What's your integration flow?
Are you saving payment methods prior to subscription creation OR are you using Subscription invoice's Intent to save payment method?

We can change our flow to take payment method first if that would be better.

Gotcha. I think we'd run authorization for validity when card gets attached to the customer but that doesn't mean the payment method would have funds to cover the payment
